Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo makes inspection tour in Ayeyawady Region

A coordination meeting was held between the Union Ministry and the Ayeyawady Region Administration Council on 9 April for the cooperation to implement the project plans in line with the agricultural and livestock policies set by the State.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo, members of the region administration council and relevant officials from the agriculture sector.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the uplift of the people living standards, food security and nutrition, increasing agricultural and fish production and to produce and export high-value products, the emergence of local agro-industrial zones, support for private sector development, facilitating the distribution of farming inputs and the benefits to the three parties – farmers, rice millers and input companies by cooperating for the development of rice production.
During his tour to Ayeyawady Region, the Union Minister and party also met with the Region-level and District-level officials from the agriculture sector. They discussed matters related to increasing agricultural and livestock production in Ayeyawady Region.
At the meeting with agricultural and livestock-based entrepreneurs, he discussed collaboration between the Government and business people in order to ensure domestic consumption and foreign exchange earnings, to speed up the flow of goods, ways to get a loan for investment needs, upgrading technology in cooperation with the international community for further development of the seed industry, seed market information linkage and market-leading consumer products, the need to shift from selling raw materials to value-added manufacturing.
Afterwards, the Union Minister and party inspected the road construction in Koesu village, Pathein Township and embankment in Hinthada town. The Directorate of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management has built 64 flood protection embankments to protect of over 170,000 acres of land in the Ayeyawady Region. — MNA
