World Environment Day ceremony held in Rakhine and Mandalay

Rakhine State Administration Council Chairman Dr Aung Kyaw Min presided over a ceremony for World Environment Day in Sittway Township yesterday.
The state chairman first made an opening remark. The attendees watched the video message of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Environmental Programmes Executive Director Ms Inger Andersen and other video clips of 2021 World Environment Day.
The ceremony for World Environment Day was also organized in Mandalay Region. Region Administration Council Chairman U Maung Ko and other officials, including the Commander of Central Command, attended the event.
The region administration council chairman first remarked. Then, video clips of environmental conservation delivered by UN Secretary-General and another video clip of the first prize winner in environmental conservation contest under topic Ecosystem Restoration, 2021 theme were played.
Then, Director U Ye Tun of the region Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Department presented the painting to mark 2021 World Environment Day and books to the region council chairman, commander and mayor. Then, the officials and people visited the display booths.—MNA
