In September 2021, 11 fires have been reported in the Yangon region, causing an estimated K98 million in property damage, according to Yangon Region Fire Services Department.
There were one stove fire and two power outages fire outbreak cases reported in the east Yangon district, destroying one house with a loss of K380,000. These three fire outbreaks forced two persons homeless.
The south Yangon district reported one power outages fire case that caused K1.8 million in property damage. There were also seven fire outbreak cases registered in the north Yangon district, destroying one house, two warehouses with a loss of over K96 million.
There was no fire outbreak in the western district in September.
Damage to property retards development. Most fire outbreaks are due to negligence, such as forgetting to put out cigarette butts, turn off ovens, or extinguish cooking fires.
People are urged to take fire safety precautions in order to perform control initiatives.
