31st National Monsoon Forum opens

The opening ceremony of the 31st Monsoon Forum 2023 of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) was held at the Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. Dr Kyaw Moe Oo, Director-General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology delivered the opening remarks.
Departmental representatives from disaster management, the Agriculture Department and other related departments, and participants from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology totalling about 50 attended this forum.
The forum discussed the reviewing of the seasonal outlook of the weather forecast and water level forecast for the 2023 Southwest Monsoon Season and the condition of agro-meteorology, presenting the seasonal outlook of weather forecast and water level forecast for the 2023-2024 Northeast Monsoon Season and El Nino conditions, discussing sectorial lessons learned during the Monsoon Season and detailed discussions on sectorial preparedness using the forecasts for the 2023-2024 winter season. — DMH
