47-member 8th State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee holds Ninth Plenary Meeting

The Union minister for Religious Affairs and Culture presents the supplication of religious matters at the ninth plenary meeting of 47-member eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee yesterday.

The Ninth Plenary Session of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Group of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar was held at Maha Pasana Cave, Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill, in Yangon yesterday morning.
Members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee headed by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Union minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, the Director-General of the Religious Affairs Department and officials attended the ceremony.
Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa chaired the meeting, while Joint Secretary Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dhaja Bhaddanta Silacara Bhivamsa served as the master of ceremonies.
First of all, Bhamo Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa opened the ceremony followed by Union minister U Ko Ko supplicating the religious matters.
After that, Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sihanada, a member of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee (Third Subcommittee), submitted a summary report on the activities during the third term; Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Tezawthara Bhivamsa submitted a summary report on the activities of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Group (First Subcommittee).
Then, a brief report on the activities of the Eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee (Second Subcommittee) during its third term was submitted by Sayadaw Bhaddanta Candanathara.
Next, State Sangha Maha Nayaka Sayadaws submitted a brief sector-wise report on the activities of the eighth State Sangha Maha Nayaka Group (Third Subcommittee) during the third term.
The meeting was adjourned in the afternoon after discussing special religious affairs.
Donors Senior General Than Shwe (Retd.) and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing and family members donated ‘Soon’ (day-meals) to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Sayadaws who attended the ceremony yesterday.
Then, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko met directors and officials from the Department of Religious Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw and religious affairs offices from different regions and states at the meeting room of the Yangon Region Branch Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.
In the evening, the Union minister met the Board of Trustees of the Shwedagon Pagoda at the meeting hall of the Pagoda and instructed them to ensure systematic convenience for worshippers.—MNA
