Lawsuit filed against former union minister Thura U Aung Ko

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has set up a commission of inquiry to investigate allegations that Thura U Aung Ko received money and property connected with the annual awarding of religious titles to the people during his tenure as Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture.

According to the investigation team, Thura U Aung Ko, during his tenure as the Union Minister for Religion Affairs and Culture, received K10 million on 21 July 2020 and a bank cheque worth K30 million from the respective people and withdrew the cash on 21 March. He also received a Ford Everest Titanium car worth K 105 million from a businessperson for long-term business convenience on 16 July, 2020.

According to the Anti-Corruption Commission, the first complaint against Thura U Aung Ko was lodged at the Mayangon and Mingaladon police stations yesterday, and it is taking actions to charge him.—MNA
