Lawsuit filed against former Yangon region minister for energy, industry, transport and communications under anti-corruption law

According to the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Commission set up an investigation team to investigate the alleged misconduct of Daw Nilar Kyaw, former Yangon Region minister for Energy, Industry, transport and Communications and take necessary action under the Anti-Corruption Law.
According to the finding of the investigation team, it was found that she used her authority during her tenure as the chairperson of the Quality Controller Company Selection Committee to issue a certificate to a company close to her as a quality controller company and assigned work to carry out quality inspection work. At the same time, she was the Yangon Region Minister for Energy, Industry, transport and Communications.
From March 2017 to January 2021, she was found to have received over K1,660 million from a total of 1,577 businesses for the quality inspection work. The investigation revealed that the receipt of a total of K364.360 million from that company was a violation of the authority given to her by her position.
According to the Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday, the first complaint was reportedly lodged at the Kamayut Township Police Station to take action against her in accordance with Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law. — MNA
