Bamboo handicraft course concludes in Kunhing Township

The closing ceremony of bamboo handicraft course, conducted by Shan State Small-Scale Industry Department and Kyun Ta Htaung Myay Foundation, was organized at Phanlan Development centre in Phanlan Village in Karli of Kunhing Township in Loilem District of Southern Shan State on 25 June.
During the event, Deputy Director-General Daw Nam Lomg Hwan of the Department of Protecting Ethnic Rights firstly made a remark. Then, she presented the certificates to the trainees while the officials of Shan State Small-Scale Industry Department gave the certificates of honour to the instructors and Kyun Ta Htaung Myay Foundation.
Then, one of the trainees expressed words of thanks. The officials also took documentary group photos and viewed the bamboo handicrafts of the trainees.
The Department of Protecting Ethnic Rights conducted such courses based on the report on the needs of community-based vocational training schools conducted in 2019-2020 fiscal year to provide more community-based vocational schools and job opportunities, and creation of job opportunities and enhancement of the socio-economic status in ethnic areas. Although the department limited to admit 20 trainees, it was extended to 32 trainees. Most of the trainees were Shan people and the rest were Lahu and Bamar people. The 15-day course offered 17 subjects like the processes of making various kinds of bamboo furniture. —MNA
