AFF Suzuki Cup: Myanmar placed in Group B with Thailand

According to the official draw result of the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup, Myanmar men’s national football team is placed in Group B with regional powerhouse Thailand.
Group A consists of Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and (Brunei or Timor Leste).
On the other hand, defending champion Viet Nam is placed in Group B together with Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia.
Myanmar team will face Thailand, and the Philippines in the group stage and is likely to play a tough role to reach the semi-finals.
The AFF Suzuki Cup tourney will be held from 5 December to 1 January.
There are two groups of five teams, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
Up to five current players will be subject to substitution rules, while group stage matches will start on 5 December.
Details of the tournament have not been released by AFF, but will be released promptly.
Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam are reportedly interested to host the tourney, officials said. —Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
