Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy attends 2nd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference

MoEE delegation participates in the online 2nd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference.

The 2nd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference is being held on 18 and 19 October in the People’s Republic of China.
The conference is chaired by the National Energy Administration and is held in both virtual and in-person formats.
The conference is attended by Deputy Minister for Electricity and Energy U Thant Zin and department heads.
To help countries respond to energy consumption reforms and energy security challenges, the 2nd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference was held under the theme “Joint Hands towards a Greener and More Inclusive Energy Future”.
Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo addressed the opening ceremony of the conference with a video clip.
Belt and Road Energy Ministers, Ambassadors, International Energy Ministers and Senior Energy Officials, UN-Energy Chiefs and senior officials from Chinese and international energy companies and experts from Chinese universities participated in the conference.
During the conference, officials discussed issues for building a carbon-free environment, developing policies and market development for green energy investment, Belt and Road cooperation, such as providing good financial support, developing clean and low-carbon energy consumption, and expanding collaborative research for better technologies and innovations to reduce costs for green energy development.
Discussions were also held on how to accelerate cooperation in the field of technology and innovation through smooth cross-border trade through the results of technological innovations.
Next, officials approved the Terms of Reference of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership and announced the Qingdao Initiative for Belt and Road Green Energy Cooperation. — MNA
