Illegal goods seized at various checkpoints

Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
On 4 January, vehicles from Myawady to Yangon were inspected at the Kawkareik (Broken Bridge) checkpoint Station. An estimated value of K580,000 was confiscated and a case was filed.
Similarly, on 5 January, vehicles from Myawady to Yangon were inspected by the Customs Team on duty at Kawkareik (Broken Bridge) checkpoint.
The estimated value of 31 Chinese speakers worth K4,650,000 without any official documents plus 100 packs of Thai perfumed detergent solution worth K1,200,000 and a total estimated value of K5,850,000 was found and the case was filed.
Next, according to the report, officials inspected a vehicle parked in the middle of Shwe Phyu Rubber Farm bypass road near the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, Yangon-Myawady Union Highway and seized six cartons of Dietary Supplements worth K7,800,000 which cannot submit any official documents.
A Mitsubishi truck carrying the goods was estimated to be worth K15,000,000 and a total value of K28,650,000 was confiscated.
Thus, on 4 January, the estimated value of the seizures was K580,000 and the total number of seizures on 5 January was K28,650,000. The total value of the five seized items was estimated at K29,230,000.
According to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, the work is being carried out following Customs procedures. —MNA
