Distribution of free sunflower seeds results in over 5,800 acres expansion in Bago region

The 2,225 baskets of sunflower seeds have been distributed free of charge to bean farmers since October 2020, and now 5,830 acres of oil-producing sunflowers have been expanded.

Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, along with the Region Government’s cabinet members, watched the successful cultivation of farmer U Myint Soe’s 307 acres of sunflower and U Thein Tun’s 10 acres of sunflower fields in Thayawady Township, on 2 March, and fulfilled requirements.
In order to produce more edible oil in the Bago Region, by the plan of the chief minister, 2,225 baskets of sunflower seeds have been distributed free of charge to bean farmers since October 2020, and now 5,830 acres of oil-producing sunflowers have been expanded.
Afterwards, the chief minister met township-level officials and town elders at the meeting hall of the Gyobingauk Township General Administration Department to discuss water supply, agriculture, livestock, rural lighting, healthcare, education and regional development.
The chief minister also inspected the paving of (0/6.84) furlongs long earthern road and (0/6.84) furlongs long gravel road in Gyobinwine village in Gyobingauk Township, and supported U Myint Naing’s successful cultivation of eight acres of tomatoes using GAP system, and visited Thayawady railway station and gave necessary instructions to the authorities. — MNA
