Over 800 suspected scammers arrested in Myanmar-China joint operation

More than 800 people suspected of online scams were detained in a joint police operation by Myanmar and China.
The two countries conducted the operation in Muse in Shan State (North) in March 2024. During the operation between 28 and 31 March 2024, 352 Chinese (337 males and 15 females) and 486 Myanmar nationals suspected of being online fraudsters living illegally in Muse of Shan State were arrested and action was taken against them in accordance with the law.
A total of 352 Chinese citizens were transferred to China: 300 people on 29 March, 30 on 30 March and 22 on 31 March, respectively. Myanmar Police Force is making efforts to fight against online scams and cooperates with law enforcement organizations of neighbouring countries to combat cross-border online fraud and gambling under the law and procedures of the country. — MNA/KTZH
