Two-day ethnic representatives’ meeting (forum) launched in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint makes the speech at the ethnic representatives’ meeting (forum).

The opening ceremony of the ethnic representatives’ meeting (forum) aiming to strengthen the ethnic solidarity and Union spirit was organized in Nay Pyi Taw according to the COVID-19 health rules yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, State Administration Council advisory board member Dr Salai Andrew Ngun Cung Lian, former region/state ethnic affairs ministers, facilitators and relevant officials of the ministry concerned.
First, Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint highlighted the holding of the two-day forum to strengthen ethnic unity, cooperation of departments and organizations, support the peace processes and peace-related matters and ensure state stability in the future. He also added that the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee – UPDJC will discuss the peacemaking processes, measures to ensure ethnic unity, ethnic affairs and NCA, ethnic unity and proper facts for peace during the two-day forum.
He also said all should discuss based on the outcomes of the discussion to accelerate in building a Union based on democracy and federalism, through a disciplined and genuine multiparty democratic system, enduring peace for the entire nation and unity.
During the first session of the first-day meeting, Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint discussed the peacemaking processes phase (1) of UPDJC while Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing talked briefed measures to strengthen the national unity.
At noon, Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung focused on ethnic affairs and NCA phase (1) and SAC advisory board member Dr Salai Andrew Ngun Cung Lian on ethnic unity of respective regions.
Then, the attendees of the meeting coordinated the discussion dividing them into three groups.
The forum will bring benefits to ethnic unity and peacemaking processes and be held on 28 and 29 March. — MNA
