1st batch of Myanmar athletes returning from 31st SEA Games welcomed back home

A chartered flight carrying the first batch of Myanmar athletes who had competed in the 31st South-East Asia Games held in Hanoi, Viet Nam, landed at Yangon International Airport yesterday evening. Athletes were welcomed back by Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay, Yangon Region Natural Resources Minister U Zaw Win, the vice mayor, President U Nyi Nyi of the Myanmar Fitness Federation, and officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education and the public. To honour athletes who are striving for national pride, the State also awards them as soon as they receive a medal in competitions – US$3,000 for a gold medal, $2,000 for a silver medal, and $1,000 for a bronze medal in individual competitions; $1,000 each team player for a gold medal in team competitions, $750 each for a silver medal, and $500 each for a bronze medal. – MNA
