Over 350 gold mining blocks remain to pay taxes in Sagaing Region

From the 2018-2019 Financial Year (FY) until the 2020-2021 Financial Year, more than 350 small-scale and artisan gold mining blocks in Sagaing Region still remain to pay taxes to the State, according to the statement of the Sagaing Region Block Scrutiny Committee.
A total of 256 small-scale gold mining blocks and 98 artisan blocks in Khamti, Homalin, Phaungpyin, Katha, Bamauk, and Kyunhla townships in the Sagaing Region were approved by the Sagaing region government, and notification letters were sent to the companies/entrepreneurs of the gold mining blocks through the lawyers to pay the remaining taxes. The statement instructed them to pay K11.948 million each for a four-acre small-scale gold block and K1.147 million each for an acre artisan gold mining block as soon as possible.
Within one month of the 2022-2023FY, 275.35 troy ounces (approximately 8.6 kilogrammes) were produced from blocks in regions and states, most of them from Shan State (South), according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. — TWA/GNLM
