MoSWRR holds 4th high-level coordination meeting with ASEAN Secretariat

The fourth high-level coordination meeting between the MoSWRR and ASEAN Secretariat is in progress in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The fourth high-level coordination meeting of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the ASEAN Secretariat was held yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine, the deputy minister, the chief minister of the Rakhine State government, permanent secretaries and departmental officials. The ASEAN Secretary-General, the AHA Centre executive director and officials from the AHA Centre participated online.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine thanked the ASEAN Secretary-General for the peace and development cooperation in Rakhine State. Although there were obstacles in socio-economic development activities due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Myanmar continues to implement the recommendations of the initial needs analysis study, and relevant ministries and the ASEAN Ad-hoc Support Team are coordinating to develop proposed projects, she said.
ASEAN Secretary-General Dato Lim Jock Hoi said that ASEAN will continue to cooperate in activities related to the development of the Rakhine State and harmony between societies. Then the Ministries/Departments approved 5 proposed projects.
The meeting also discussed the progress of the priority projects and new areas of business and priority projects that have the potential to further cooperate with ASEAN for the development of Rakhine State, and the Union Minister explained the formation of committees and cooperation with Bangladesh for the repatriation process and the Rakhine State development. — MNA
