Illegal timbers, restricted goods, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
An inspection team led by Myanmar Police Force conducted the inspections on 4 August under the instructions of the Mon State Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force,
Officials confiscated 2,000 kilogrammes of restricted chemical – Ammonium Nitrate – worth K3.6 million at the Shwethanlwin Tollgate in Belin Township. The action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Similarly, a team led by the Yangon Region Forest Department carried out inspections under the supervision of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 5 August.
They seized a total of 6.1236 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K311,822 in the Oakkan forest reserve in Taikkgyi Township of Yangon North District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a total of 17.828 tonnes of illegal teak, iron-wood and other timbers worth K8,566,372 were confiscated in the Bago, Thayawady and Pyi districts on 4 August, and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, on 6 August, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force confiscated an unregistered Honda Air Wave car (approximately K2.5 million), and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, a combined team under the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force impounded duty-free warm clothes and perfume detergent (ABC branded) worth K29,260,000 from a Nissan Diesel Tractor Head truck (approximately K27 million) near the Htonebo junction on the Yangon- Mandalay Road. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, nine arrests (approximately K71,238,194) were made on three consecutive days from 4 to 6 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. – MNA
