SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, an on-duty team captured an unregistered Super Custom car (estimated value of K6 million) at Kyweye Combined Checkpoint on 26 October. The action was filed under the Export and Import Law.
An inspection team led by Forest Department nabbed a total of 11.4352 tonnes of illegal sawn teaks worth K7,547,232 in Sagaing township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, officials confiscated 2400 kilogrammes of Bopp Film worth K2,016,000 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Mitsubishi Canter car (approximately K25 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 26 and 27 October, an on-duty team seized K3,110,000 worth of foodstuffs and construction materials that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from two vehicles heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 27 October, a total of 9.6238 tonnes of illegal teaks worth K5,033,028 was captured in the Khabaung forest reserve of Toungoo district. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, seven arrests (estimated at K48,706,260) were made on 26 and 27 October, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
