Illegal timbers, lubricant/fuel, industrial materials, consumer goods, electronics and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
The combined team led by the Yangon International Port Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections.
On 2 November, officials captured 1,140 kilogrammes of cables worth K22.5 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Hteedan Container Checkpoint and 496 remote-controlled toy cars and 64 remote-controlled toy drones worth K5.12 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 3 November, officials nabbed K66,448,200 worth of wools that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal Container Checkpoint and 78,000 litres of Jockey lubricant that did not match the Import Declaration (ID) from three containers at Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a combined team led by Myanmar Police Force under the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force captured an unregistered Jialing motorbike (approximately K200,000) in Monywa township, an unregistered Thai Anbo motorbike (approximately K200,000) and an unregistered Jing Gong 22-wheel car (approximately K7 million) in Sagaing township, an unregistered Lexus car (approximately K8 million) in Ayadaw township and an unregistered Honda Stream car (approximately K3 million) at the combined checkpoint on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Afterwards, an on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint confiscated 29 water heaters worth K2.9 million without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 4 November, a total of 0.7212 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K360,600 was captured in the Yoma protected public forest reserve of Yedashe township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 12 arrests (estimated value of K248,206,145) were made on three consecutive days from 2 to 4 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
