The Myanmar U-22 team will take time for training and prepare for the international competitions to be held next year.
Bulgarian national Popov, who is the head coach of the Myanmar U-22 team, released the preliminary list of 60 players selected for international tournaments, and preparations will be made for each tournament.
The roster released by head coach Popov includes 50 under-22 players and 10 over-age players and was pre-selected because the over-age players will be allowed to use in the 32nd SEA Games and Asian Games.
Next year, the Myanmar U-22 team will compete in the ASEAN U-22 Championship, the 32nd Cambodian SEA Games, the 2024 Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers and the Asian Games.
The Myanmar U-22 team is scheduled to start training in early December and will compete in international friendly matches whenever a tournament is about to compete.
The Myanmar Football Federation has continued to assign Popov as the head coach of the Myanmar U-22 team and will compete in many competitions in 2023.
Popov has been assigned as the head coach of the Myanmar U-22 team since 2019 and has had the opportunity to handle the SEA Games three times in a row.
As the Myanmar team was eliminated from the group stage in the last Viet Nam SEA Games, they must try to win a medal in the next SEA Games, as well as make a comeback to qualify for the U-23 Asian Cup. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
