Illegal timbers, foodstuffs and vehicles confiscated

A combined team led by the Forest Department under the supervision of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections on 25 and 26 November.
Officials captured a total of 2.2326 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K156,282 in Lewe township. The action was taken under the forest law.
Similarly, on 26 November, a combined team under the management of the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized 40,086 litres of cooking oil (worth K121 million) without official documents in the Yadanahtun wholesale shops in Mawlamyine township. The action was taken under customs procedures.
In addition, a combined team, under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force, made inspections and captured 91,500 kilogrammes of white sesame (worth K292.8 million) without official documents from six vehicles between Kabyu village and Thantaung village on Shwesayan-Pyinsa road. The action was taken under customs procedures.
On 26 and 27 November, officials of the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint captured 45 cooking pots (red) worth K1,575,000 and 50 bags of feedstuff worth K1,250,000, which were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), from two vehicles heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under customs procedures.
On 28 November, a combined team led by Myanmar Police Force seized two unregistered vehicles (estimated value of K2.4 million) near Milepost 122/2 on Pathein-Monywa road. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Similarly, on the same day, a total of 4.1822 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K969,578 was captured in the Kyaukmasin forest reserve of Yedashe township and action was taken under the forest law.
Therefore, 27 arrests (estimated value of K600,153,860) were made on four consecutive days from 25 to 28 November, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA
