10 arrests (estimated value of K210,359,920) were made on three consecutive days from 22 to 24 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

A combined team under the supervision of the Bago Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 22 January.
Officials captured a vehicle and a trailer (approximately K70 million) carrying a 40-foot container MOLU-2181177 (estimated value of K3.5 million) on its way from Myawady to Yangon. There were no official documents for the container. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 23 January, officials seized a total of 8.9320 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K589,650 from a motorboat (estimated value of K1.18 million) near Samonegalatwa in Kyunsu township in Taninthayi region. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, a combined team confiscated K587,000 worth of illegal liquors in Salin township, a total of 6.4160 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K4,234,560 from a Mitsubishi Fuso car (estimated value of K25 million) on Minbu-Salin-Sinphyukyun- Seikphyu road and an unregistered Honda Airwave car (approximately K5 million) at the Ayeyawady Bridge in Minbu township. The actions were taken under the Myanmar Liquor Law, the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law respectively.
A total of 3.1618 tonnes of illegal hardwood worth K474,200 from a vehicle (estimated value of K7 million) was seized in Bhamo township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 24 January, officials at the Yepu permanent checkpoint confiscated K54,141,000 worth of duty-free cosmetics, clothes, a Lenovo laptop, a laser printer and mobile accessories at the township bypass road near Sanlong village and responsible persons at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint seized 280 boxes of circuit breaker that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel car (approximately K35 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of 30.4640 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,066,240 was captured in Thanlwin river near Dawei island in Mawlamyine township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of K210,359,920) were made on three consecutive days from 22 to 24 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
