Over 200 three-wheel motorbikes purchased to improve garbage collection system: YCDC

To improve the trash collection system in Yangon Region, Yangon City Development Committee has purchased a total of 232 three-wheel motorbikes, Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay said at the opening ceremony of the refresher course on driving and maintenance of garbage trucks on 1 February, organized by the Urban Environmental Conservation & Sanitation Department under YCDC.
As Yangon is a commercial city in Myanmar, more than 2,500 tonnes of garbage are discarded every day and transported further from ward to township, from township to district, and from district to the final disposal sites.
He said that 232 garbage three-wheel motorbikes have been purchased and used to replace dustcarts for the improvement of the trash collection system, assisting the activities that are being carried out to make the capital clean and tidy.
The mayor called on the garbage truck drivers to drive the vehicle as per the rules of the workplace set by the department, always be aware of the traffic rules and regulations while driving, handle the hydraulic systems that are installed in the vehicle correctly and check the vehicle daily to avoid causing major damage. He also directed them to always act and work carefully to prevent occupational hazards. — TWA/CT
