Fire outbreak under railway sleeper on Thanlyin Bridge due to overheating

On the afternoon of 28 February, due to overheating, a fire broke out under the railway sleeper on the Thanlyin Bridge, which was built on the Bago River between Thakayta and Thanlyin Townships.
The social organizations, rescue teams and the fire brigade were able to put out the fire in time and prevented the gas pipeline running on the bridge from catching fire.
“The fire broke out around noon due to excess heat from the sun. It started from the wood under the railway sleeper. We managed to put the fire out in time with water bottles on board before the fire brigade arrived. If not, all the gas and oil pipelines on the bridge could have caught fire,” a member of the Mingala Taungnyunt Social Assistance Association, who assisted at the scene, told GNLM.
It is known that the relevant authorities have investigated the cause of the fire and repairs are being made. — TWA/CT
