MoRAC Union Minister offers Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita title; title recipient Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kuthala donates cash to Maravijaya Buddha Image

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko attended the ceremony to offer Maha Gandhavacaka Pandita title for 2023 to Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kuthala of Lin JuuTaung Buddhist Missionary in Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, and for the Sayadaw to donate cash for the construction of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhina Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, and Alaetawya Dhamma Vijaya Temple.
The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning and was attended by Deputy Minister U Aye Htun, the permanent secretary, the directors-general and officials.
At the ceremony, Maha Gandhavacaka Pandita title was offered to the Presiding Sayadaw of Lin JuuTaung Buddhist Missionary in Hong Kong. And then, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kuthala donated US$20,000 for the construction of the Maravijaya Buddha Image and the layperson of the Sayadaw donated K5 million. Cash was also donated for Alaetawya Dhamma Vijaya Temple constructed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and the Union Minister accepted the donation and gave in turn a certificate of honour. — MNA/MKKS
