Iran women’s national football team and the Myanmar women’s national team drew (1-1) at the second match of the Women’s Olympic Qualifiers 1st round played at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon yesterday, and team Iran won the two rounds (2-1) and advanced to the second round.Myanmar head coach Daw Thet Thet Win used key players from the kick-off.
In the first half of the match, the Myanmar team was able to play with an advantage, but in the 13th minute of the match, the back number (15), Negin Zandi scored the leading goal for Iran.
Team Iran took the lead, so they played defensively.
In the 16th minute of the match, the Myanmar team had to take a penalty kick, but Win Theingi Tun’s kick missed the goal and the opportunity to equalize was a slip, so Iran led (1-0) at the end of the first half. In the second half, the Myanmar team was forced to play with full attack, and in the 56th minute of the game, Win Theingi Tun scored an equalizer for team Myanmar with a header. After that, both teams made player changes and competed fiercely, and as Iran was able to stop the Myanmar team’s attack properly, it ended with a goal (1-1) without being able to score any more goals.
At the press conference held after the match, the head coach of the Myanmar team, Daw Thet Thet Win, said, “I am sad that we could not get a good result. We will have to prepare a lot of weaknesses of the team, and we will have to review for the next tournament,” she said.
Iran’s head coach, Maryam Azmoon, said, “Our team is low on the world level and in terms of ability, but we have prepared everything to get a good result. The Myanmar team is a big team in Asia and has good players. That’s why we had to play counterattack as a priority.
“I am proud of the players who worked hard to get good results. We will do our best to get a good result in the second-round qualifiers,” she said. The second round qualifiers for the Paris Olympic Women’s Football Tournament will be held in the coming October. — KZL
