MoFA Union Minister attends meeting 1/2023 of Working Committee on Cooperation with UN Agencies & IOs under Central Committee on Rakhine State’s Peace, Stability & Development

Union Minister U Than Swe chairs the meeting 1/2023 of the Working Committee on Cooperation with the United Nations Agencies and International Organizations under the Central Committee on the Rakhine State’s Peace, Stability and Development yesterday.

The meeting of the Working Committee on the Cooperation with the United Nations Agencies and International Organizations 1/2023 under the Central Committee on the Rakhine State’s Peace, Stability and Development was held at the Ayeyawady Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday.
Union Minister U Than Swe, in his capacity as Chairman of the Working Committee on Cooperation with the UN Agencies and International Organizations, underlined that the Government of Myanmar has been making efforts for the repatriation of the displaced persons from the Bangladesh side under a pilot project. The Union minister highlighted that necessary work should be done for the sustainable livelihoods of the returnees. Moreover, he also underscored that it is important to effectively cooperate with the United Nations agencies and international organizations for the sustainable return and livelihood of displaced persons.
Additionally, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing emphasized cooperation among stakeholders for effective humanitarian assistance in Rakhine State and dissemination of local information to the international community. Dr Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Vice-Chair of the Working Committee, and members of the Working Committee deliberated the ongoing implementation and progress of the activities in the Rakhine State as well as the updates on activities carried out under the pilot project.
The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in his capacity as Secretary of the Working Committee, also discussed the updates on the implementation of the 1/2022 meeting decisions of the Working Committee and its future plan while the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, co-secretary of the Working Committee, stressed the effective dissemination of the credible information.
As a concluding remark, Union Foreign Affairs Minister U Than Swe, in his capacity as Chairman of the Working Committee, emphasized that it is important for a fair distribution of assistance to all communities in Rakhine State without discrimination.—MNA
