DPM Union MoFA Minister receives UNDSS Under-Secretary-General

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received Mr Gilles Michaud, UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, Mr Gilles Michaud discussed the security of the UN personnel and the travel access required to operate the respective functions of UN agencies in Myanmar. The Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs responded that Myanmar highly prioritizes the safety and security of the UN personnel and facilitates its best travel access for the UN agencies. Moreover, they exchanged views on matters related to transnational crimes.
Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr Marcoluigi Corsi, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim and Mr Marco Smoliner, Security Advisor to UNDSS in Myanmar. — MNA
