DMC holds its work process meeting

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) opened at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and organized a meeting yesterday.
Speaking at the meeting, National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC) Vice-Chair 1 State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut said the DMC was opened as per the guidance of NDMC Chairman made at the emergency meeting on 6 May. Depending on the situation of the cyclone, there will be four sections: normal, emergency and critical and rehabilitation. Currently, the measures for normal and emergency period are being conducted. The systematically collected data should be reported to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council. The DMC should run for 24 hours. It should make preparations not to occur communication failures. Depending on the situation and changing path of the storm, it can carry out measures for the period of emergency and critical. It should prepare water and rations at the Cyclone Shelter and the DMC should share the information to make decisions. The DMC activities take a key role in this operation.
Then, NDMC Vice-Chair 2 Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine talked about the opening of DMC, data collection from respective region/state governments, plans to submit to the NDMC Chairman, preparation of working committees and procurement of emergency food supplies.
The officials of the working committee also discussed the current weather condition, the weather forecast on the website of the international weather station, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, stand-by rescues teams in regions/states, conveyance of people and materials, plans to collect losses, water trucks, transportation service, the opening of Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PBEOC), Rapid Respond Team (RRT) for emergency healthcare services and distribution of medical supplies. — MNA/KTZH
