As per the weather forecast of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in the evening of 7 May, a low-pressure area was likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal on 8 May and then, it might intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea on 10 May. It may trigger isolated to scattered rain or thundershowers in Rakhine State, Yangon Region and Ayeyawady Region between 13 and 15 May.
Those investors of the enterprises permitted by the Myanmar Investment Commission or endorsed by the respective region and state investment committees are encouraged to draw disaster management action plans for the staff and their families and prepare industrial buildings for the cyclone hazards to mitigate the damage to property and equipment, the MIC notified.
Furthermore, the investors are urged to control the possible price increase in staple food and pharmaceuticals and ensure effective management to avoid a shortage of supplies in the market as the negative consequences of the cyclone, MIC requested. — NN/EM
