Students are happily pursuing education at basic education schools in Mandalay as basic education schools across the nation were opened yesterday morning for the 2023-24 academic year.
Teachers helped students follow Covid-19 protocols at the schools and taught them in relevant classrooms.
During the school enrollment period from 23 to 31 May, basic education schools admitted 711,364 students, monastic education schools, 80,349 students and private schools, 55,451 students.
These schools did not collect any charges from students but provided school textbooks, notebooks, stationeries and school uniforms to students free of charge.
Traffic police, local authorities, fire brigade members and Myanmar Police Force members took security duty inside and outside schools.
A total of 4,270 basic education schools, 320 monastic schools and 230 private schools are located in Mandalay Region. — Maung Aye Chan/TTA
