The Maravijaya Buddha Statue will be open from 8 to 16 August for the Sangha and the public to be able to pay homage to it. During that period, although pilgrims – Buddhist monks as well as the public – do not have to pay entrance fees, they will have to undergo necessary security check-ups.
The ceremonies to consecrate the Maravijaya, the world’s tallest sitting Buddha Statue, to hoist golden umbrellas atop small pagodas on the stone plaque chambers and to share merits gained were successfully held in the precinct of the Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw on 1 August. — MNA/KZW
