Myanmar traditional foods served at ASEAN Gala Night in Singapore

Families of the Myanmar Embassy to Singapore exhibited local products and commodities and served the guests with the country’s traditional foods at the ASEAN Gala Night that was held in Singapore’s Orchard Hotel on 21 November, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the event, Myanmar showcased cultural products, jewellery and traditional items among others.
In addition, Myanmar traditional foods such as coconut noodles, oiled sticky rice, and Myanmar pancakes (locally called Montleikpya) were displayed and served to the attendees.
According to the report, the event involved a special feature in which embassies of the ASEAN nations in Singapore entertained with their folk music and dance. Myanmar participants also engaged with the song named ‘Thanaka’.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore Mr Albert Chua, personnel from the Southeast Asia Department of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomats from the embassies of the ASEAN nations, and dialogue partners and other partnership countries attended the event. — ASH/ TMT
