Myanmar exports 8000 tonnes of green gram to EU every year

Myanmar exports more than 8000 tonnes of green gram to the European Union countries on annual basis and 10 companies have proposed to export the crop in this beans and pulses season, according to green gram export companies.

Of 10 companies which have proposed allowing export of Myanmar green gram in 2023-2024 beans and pulses season, 4 are newly founded.

“Myanmar green gram export per year is estimated more than 8000 tonnes. Export order never fell in previous years. We are preparing to export it to EU countries this year as well. Beans are also under plantation for this season,” according to the exporters.

During this 2023 beans season as of March to October, more than 8000 tonnes of green gram was exported to the EU market.

Green gram is annually exported to EU countries for sprouting and the country exported 75013tonnes in total from 2015 to October 2023.
