Many travellers flock to Mawtinsun pagoda in Ayeyawady Region, says the Yangon-Hainggyikyun-Yangon bus line.
“The major destination in Hainggyikyun is Mawtinsun pagoda. Kyauk Klup (rock club) is the only one in Myanmar. Other recreational activities include swimming, exploring local knowledge, and visiting Kyauk Klup. Besides Mawtinsun, many people also go to Ngwehsaung and Chaungtha beaches. The Ayeyawady Region is the best place to visit in Myanmar because of its good security.
Whether it is day or night, travellers never stop coming,” said an official from the Shanmalay Yangon-Hainggyikyun-Yangon bus line.
Some travel to Hainggyikyun by boat, but more people go by road to save time.
“Thinking it might be cheaper, some travel by boat. It takes more time. So, more people go by road,” said the Yangon-Hainggyikyun bus terminal.
As it is the dry season, with no rain or wind, this is when local travellers visit many destinations across Myanmar.
According to the Department of Hotels and Tourism, Chaungtha Beach in Ayeyawady Region has received 440,000 visitors during this year’s travel season. — Thit Taw/ZN/Ed
