Sea turtle conservation department holds turtle releasing event

Sea turtle conservation departments from Hainggyi Island and Tameehla Island of Hainggyikyun Township, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region, and township level departments held a turtle release event at Kyakan Village yesterday.
First, the staff led by U Phone Maw, the head of the Thameehla Island Sea Turtle conservation department, and residents caught the turtle (CCL 38cm CCW 32cm) in a fishing net near Mawtinsun reef, fitted tags MM 3301 and 3302, and released it back into the sea.
Afterwards, U Maung Maung Tun, head of the Thameehla Island sea turtle conservation department, gave a reward and souvenirs to U Maung Maung Tun, who reported to the authorities that the sea turtle was caught in a fishing net but was not killed and eaten.
