According to the respective clubs, Yangon United Football Club and Rakhine United Football Club have appointed relevant foreign head coaches before the 2024 Myanmar National League.
After failing to extend coach Gerd Friedrich Horst Zeise’s contract, YUFC appointed German professional football manager Frank Bernhardt as a head coach for one season, and the new head coach will arrive in Yangon soon. He has also worked as a coach and technical director for Azerbaijan, Estonia, and Malaysia football associations. He managed the Malaysia Super League club Kelantan as a head coach before joining YUFC. Similarly, Rakhine United Football Club appointed Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Silva and recruited new local and foreign players as part of preparations for the new season.
As such, Yangon United and Rakhine United, under the leadership of foreign head coaches, will take part in the forthcoming MNL, while other clubs will be under national head coaches. — Shine Htet Zaw/KZL
