Kaunghmulon Pagoda to host Buddha Pujaniya festival for 12 days

The Buddha Pujaniya festival will kick off at the ancient historic Kaunghmulon Pagoda in Machanbaw township, Kachin state, from 13 to 24 February with a large number of pilgrims, said U Ye Htun, member of Kaunghmulon Pagoda Board of Trustees.
“The opening ceremony of the Buddha Pujaniya festival will commence on 13 February, and the recitation of seven Abhidhamma treatises will be included from 14 to 22 February for nine days. The festival will feature the Uppatasanti Paritta reciting ritual by 27 Sayadaws, the offering of trust funds, the Htamane-making ceremony, the Mathoe Robe Weaving ceremony on 23 February as well as the light offering ceremony at the Pagoda Square in the evening,” said U Ye Htun.
The consecration and Mathoe Robe Weaving offering ceremonies will be hosted at the nine Buddha Images of Kaunghmulon Pagoda at 5 am on 24 February. Additionally, the event of sacred water pouring into the Malikha river at 8 am and the successful conclusion of the Buddha Pujaniya festival with sharing merits will be started at 9:30 am. — ASH/MKKS
