MoHT Deputy Minister visits NyaungU for developing new tour destinations

Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Phyo Zaw Soe visited the ancient Yokesone Monastery, established 150 years ago in Thelpyintaw Village, and Shwenat Hill, NyaungU Township yesterday morning, to find out the opportunities for Community Based Tourism–CBT in the area.
After that, the deputy minister also visited the Zeeoh Village located in the south-east of NyaungU and saw the 900-year-old tamarind tree and the sal forest. Both places are attractive to domestic and foreign travellers, the report states. The deputy minister also instructed the locals and relevant authorities to conserve the tamarind tree which is the emblem of the village and the sal forest.
In afternoon, the deputy minister visited the Palinkanthaya elephant resort and inspected the implementations of developing the ecotourism project, and arrangements for safety of the travellers.
At the elephant resort, the domestic and foreign travellers can feed the elephants in a close range, take photos, wash and bathe the elephants in the river, study the books and documents related to elephants freely, enjoy sightseeing the Ayeyawady River by riding the elephant, enjoy the entertainment programmes by the elephants, and there is also a bridge used as a viewpoint and an elephant museum.
In the evening, the deputy minister visited the Aureum Palace Hotel and Resort in Bagan and observed the arrangements at the palace tower for the visitors, scenes of pagodas, stupas and temples in Bagan viewed from the palace tower, and gave the necessary instructions. — MNA/TMT
