The Yangon Region Government recently announced that a total of 1,016 acres of farmland near Sinphon village in Hlegu Township can now be supplied with water using solar electricity.
The Chief Minister of Yangon Region and his party inaugurated the solar power system water pumping station in honour of the 62nd Peasants’ Day on 1 March. A 110kW water pumping station was installed with funding from the regional government.
With water supplied by solar power for seven hours a day, 770 kWh of electricity can be saved daily, amounting to 77,000 kWh for a 100-day summer paddy season. This translates to savings of K11.55 million on the electricity bill. — TWA/ TRKM
