Despite advice from the Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo to take great care to avoid discrepancies in deposits to the embassy’s account, such errors have still been found, and no refunds will be made. The Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo warned again on 11 March.
For consular services for Myanmar nationals and Japanese in Japan, including visa, passport renewal, reapplication for losses, payment of income tax, and the issuance of endorsement letters, all customers were advised to pay the exact amount of fees and to avoid any overpayment as it was difficult to refund, the embassy initially said on 22 February.
However, since there have been repeated cases of extra payments to the embassy’s account, the embassy has had to reissue the warning.
According to the procedure, the embassy will receive the direct payment into the embassy account at Ummitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (Gotanada Branch) (non-resident current account) for passport fee, fine for loss, income tax and visa fees, it said. — MT/ZN/ED
