Over 1M stimulant tablets worth of K2 billion seized in Mandalay Region

The Myanmar Police Force reported the seizure of over one million stimulant tablets, valued at over K2 billion in Mandalay Region.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising members of the Anti-Drug Police Force searched a motorcycle driven by Paing Soe accompanied Ma Ei Ei Mon near Kyaukchaw Village, Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region on 23 March and seized 40,000 stimulant tablets from them. And police searched houses of Paing Soe and Ma Ei Ei Mon and confiscated 5,800 stimulant tablets on the same day. Following interrogation, police arrested Ma Sein (aka) Thet Htar in Mahaaungmyay Township on 24 March, Waing Aung Myint with a motor cycle in Chanmyathazi Township on 26 March, Kyaw Ye Thu together with 100,000 stimulant tablets on the road head to Kwaygyigon Village on 26 March and Gaw Yon Singh in Chanmyathazi Township. The police seized 860,000 stimulant tablets from Waing Aung Myint’s house in Pyigyidagun Township on 27 March.
Those suspects confessed that the seized drugs were bought from Shan State and sold them in Mandalay Region. Legal action has been initiated against offenders, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the case. — MNA/KZL
