As the supply has been short in the vegetable market, Taiwan tomato price has increased.

At the present, just a few tomatoes are left to harvest at tomato plantations, because of this fact, tomato prices have climbed up, according to tomato farmers.

“Now Burmese tomatoes become rare and Taiwan tomatoes also become short. Taiwan tomatoes are planted by supporting with wooden stakes. Both prices of Burmese tomato and Taiwan tomato have increased. Wholesale price is now K500 a viss, up from K350. It has been about 10 days that prices have gone up. The reason is the supply of crops has been short,” said a tomato farmer from Zalun township in Ayeyawady Region.
