Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and his wife, accompanied by other state government officials, met internally displaced people (IDPs) fleeing the ongoing conflict at the Waingmaw township general administration department on 18 April.
The chief minister reassured the IDPs that they understood the challenges facing them and would provide support, including food and accommodation.
Then, they donated K11.9 million worth of rice bags, instant noodles and snacks to about 100 families sheltering at the Lhaovo Literature and Culture Committee office and KBC camp.
The state chief minister and party have also coordinated efforts to provide shelter for the IDPs, ensuring protection from the weather conditions. Additionally, they are overseeing the digging of wells to secure a safe drinking water source and the construction of additional latrines to improve sanitation conditions.
They also inspected the construction of bamboo houses for the IDPs, whose houses burnt down due to the ongoing conflict, at the Lisu Baptist Church and coordinated efforts to dig wells and provide electricity. — Kachin State IPRD/NT
