In a bid to develop the tourism market in Myanmar, an invitation programme (Fam Trip) for Russian tourists will start in the fourth week of October, with 30 Russian tourists visiting 14 destinations in Myanmar, according to U Tin Tun Aung, the director of the Rakhine State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism under the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
“After their trip, many Russian tourists are expected to visit Myanmar, so preparations are being made in various tourist destinations. Another thing is that Russian tourists love to travel to mountainous areas and beaches, so we have made more preparations for both sea and mountain side trips. In hotels, motels, and guesthouses, we are conducting basic Russian spoken language courses and recruiting Russian-speaking tour guides. Similarly, Indian and Chinese tourists have also been given VOA, so we expect them to visit more in the next tourism season than in the past,” U Tin Tun Aung said.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has released 14 destinations that local and foreign tourists should visit during the next tourism season on a priority. These areas include historic temples, stupas and ancient buildings, famous for their cultural heritage as well as natural landscapes in Myanmar. Those 14 tourist destinations comprise Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, Ngwehsaung, Chaungtha, Ngapali, PyinOoLwin, Inlay, Kalaw-Taunggyi, Kawthoung, Kyaukpyu, Manaung and PutaO. — ASH/TH
