About one-year suspension of hotels and tourism industry brings loss to people

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn meets the hoteliers in Rakhine State yesterday to revive tourism.

“Hotels and tourism services are allowed to resume their operations across the nation. However, they need to abide by the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports for the prevention and control of Covid-19,” said Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Maung Maung Ohn at a meeting with officials from Myanmar Hoteliers Association and those from hotels in Thandwe District of Rakhine State yesterday morning.
About one-year suspension of the hotels and tourism industry due to the outbreak of Covid-19 brought loss to people from all strata. Arrangements have been made to resume hotels and tourism services in Bagan, Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Yangon, Chaungtha, Ngwehsaung, Taunggyi, Inlay and Pindaya in line with the rules and regulations for Covid-19. The government has extended six more months for the term of Covid-19 loans issued to the hotels and tourism sector, he added.
Rakhine State Administration Council member (3) U Than Tun discussed that destination management organization would be re-constituted for the resurgence of the hotel and tourism industry in Rakhine State. A plan is underway to implement ecotourism service on Manaung island.
The Union minister unveiled the hotel and tourism services of the Ngapali region.
Ngapali beach, attractive to local and foreign travellers, is one of the Rakhine State and Myanmar’s beautiful landmarks. — MNA
