AFC U-23 Championship 2023 to kick-start on 17 August

Myanmar national football team will compete in the AFC U-23 Championship 2023, which will be held in Thailand on 17 August, as stated by the Myanmar Football Federation.
Ten Southeast Asian countries, divided into three groups will compete in the tourney.
Myanmar consists of Group A with host Thailand, Cambodia and Brunei while Malaysia is in Group B with Indonesia and Timor Leste. Group C sees Viet Nam, the Philippines and Laos.
According to the format of the competition, only the top three teams from the group and the best one from the second-placed teams will advance to the semi-finals. The Myanmar team is likely to struggle to advance to the next round.
Team Myanmar is competing in the ASEAN U-23 tournament as the second international competition this year and won fourth place in the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia in May.
The Myanmar squad is meeting again with Thailand and Cambodia, among the teams they met in the SEA Games.
After this tournament, the Myanmar U-23 team will continue to compete in the 2024 Asian Cup U-23 qualifiers in early September and the 19th Asian Games to be held from 19 September to 7 October. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
