Agricultural activities inspected in Myitkyina, Waingmaw

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo discussed matters related to agricultural development during the meeting with farmers and private entrepreneurs in agriculture and farming from Myitkyina and Waingmaw townships on 30 April.
The Union Minister and Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and party inspected the farms of regiment and units from the Northern Command and provided veterinary medicines. Then, they attended the ceremony of planting green manure in Waingmaw Township. The Union Minister explained to local farmers the benefits of green manure for soil development and crop nutrition. The Chief Minister and the Director General of the Department of Agriculture provided vegetable seeds.
Afterwards, the Union Minister and party inspected the development of drainage canals, construction of two drain bridges to alleviate flooding on 100 acres of model farmland in Tatkon Ward in Myitkyina.
In the afternoon, they inspected the rubber research work being carried out at the perennial research and technology development farm near Nawngnan village in Myitkyina and met with local rubber farmers to discuss expansion of rubber sown acreage and market issues in Kachin State. They also inspected the silkworm breeding and farming activities of Myitkyina Silk Farm.
Afterwards, they met with dairy farmers at the Chan Orchid Farm and Dairy Farm and encouraged them to prevent animal diseases and produce high quality dairy products.—MNA
