Alms donated to Ovadacariya Sayadaws, monks sitting for 73rd Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination

State Administration Council Chairman Commander -in-Chief of Defence Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family offered alms (day meal) to the monks sitting for the 73rd Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination on the Kaba Aye Hill yesterday.
The alms donation ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and wife, Deputy Minister U Tun Ohn, the Permanent Secretary and other officials.
The congregation then took the sermons delivered by Ovadacariya Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sudhammacara Bhivamsa (Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Agga Maha Pandita), Vice Chair of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida selection team and shared merits.
Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and wife offered the fast meal donated by the SAC Chairman and wife to the Sayadaws in the morning.
The Union Minister then paid homage to 77 monks who sat for 73rd Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination.
The 73rd Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination will be held between 17 and 21 May at Maha Pasana Cave on Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill and a total of 171 monks sit for the exam.
The Union Minister also visited the National Museum (Yangon), and the curator clarified the processes.
He then met the museum staff and explained the International Museum Day and the duties of staff to be well-versed in knowledge regarding the materials displayed at the museums in offering services for the public.
The staff also should keep learning by communicating with the local and foreign experts. He then stressed the need to organize a special event in the international community to display the precious materials of the country, communicate with the officials concerned to share the culture with the new generations like students and youths and hold the paper reading session regarding the museum. — MNA
